PRL Fall Soccer 2025

Saturday Morning Clinics – Begin September 6

Our Saturday clinics for younger teams will run from September 6th through October 25th. You will see that we have adjusted some of the times since last year. Here's the schedule by age group:

  • Toddler Team: 8:30–9:00 AM

  • Pre-K Team: 8:30–9:00 AM

  • Kindergarten Team: 9:00–9:45 AM

  • 1st Grade Team: 9:00–10:00 AM

  • 2nd/3rd Grade Team: 9:00–10:00 AM

4th–6th Grade Team Info

  • Practices: Mondays, Wednesdays, and A FEW Fridays from 3:00–4:30 PM

  • Games: May be scheduled on any weekday

  • Season: Starts Monday, September 8, and ends Friday, October 24

  • 6th graders: 6th graders will get the opportunity as always to play Rec Soccer, however they will not have the opportunity to play for the Middle School team at PCS this season. This may be disappointing to some, however it's the best option for both teams this year.

End-of-Season Tournament – Mark Your Calendars!

The 4th–6th grade team will participate in our annual end-of-season tournament at The Putney School on October 18th & 19th.
Please note: This is not on Indigenous Peoples' Weekend this year, due to field availability.

We’ll need lots of volunteers for this weekend to help with:

  • Setting up and taking down equipment

  • Operating the Snack Shack

  • Parking attendants and general support

If you can lend a hand, even for a short shift, we’d greatly appreciate it!

We Need Coaches & Volunteers!

We're still looking for coaches for each age group. No coaching experience is needed—just a love for the game and the community!

Additionally, we’re seeking volunteers to help:

  • Get our Snack Shack ready for the season

  • Staff the Shack during Saturday mornings and weekday game nights

If you’re interested in coaching or volunteering, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

The PRL will provide water when we can, but it’s not guaranteed at every practice or game. Please help remind your players to bring their water bottles. The field at PCS has a water fountain they will be allowed to use to refill their water bottle.

If for financial reasons you are unable to supply your child with any of the gear they need, please let us know. We have some equipment scholarships available.

Weather Guidelines

Here you will find information about how we decide to cancel practices and games.

You will get an email sent to the email you put on your child’s registration form, notifying you of the cancellation.

Practices and games will be canceled if:

-There is a thunderstorm

-The temperature is below 35 degrees fahrenheit

-The temperature is above 95 degrees fahrenheit

-There has been significant rainfall in the last 24 hours, to limit damage to fields.

We will continue to have practice if it is raining. If it's really cold and/or raining really hard, we will seek shelter in the Snack Shack or Putney Central School, until players are picked up.

Players will always be allowed to warm up if they are cold, and cool down if they are too hot.

In the event a thunderstorm should interfere with play, students will be brought into the Snack Shack or Putney Central School for safety until they are picked up by parents/guardians. Should we hear thunder or see lightning, we will wait to resume play until 30 minutes after the last strike of lightning, or sound of thunder.

Covid Guidelines/Sick Policy

If your child goes home from school and isn’t feeling well, they will not be able to practice/play in a game that day.

If your child is sick, we highly encourage them to stay home. If they have had a positive covid test, we will refer to the CDC Guidelines to figure out when they can play.

We do not require players, coaches, referees, timekeepers, or any member of the PRL to be vaccinated.

Players will not face any negative repercussions for being sick and missing practice or a game. We believe health comes first, and we support each and every player. However, we DO require communication to your players coach or the Program Coordinator should your player need to miss practice or a game.

Expectations of Parents

Parents are expected to get their players to practice and games on time. They are also expected to pick up their players when the practice is over, or the game ends.

Please let your coach know if your player needs to miss practice or will be late. A quick email is great!

Parents are expected to have proper sideline behavior.

Parents are not to coach their players from the sidelines. We love to see encouragement and hear the crowd get excited about a great play, or an awesome save! Let’s encourage our players by responsible, respectful, sportsmanlike cheering, while reserving the coaching to the coaches.

Parents should be respectful and supportive of all Putney Rec League Coaches, board members, referees, and officials.

If a parent has a concern and would like to address it with a coach, referee, board member of the PRL we ask that you please do it respectfully. The board members of the PRL will address any concerns brought to our attention.

Expectations of Players

We expect our players to always show respect, kindness, and good sportsmanship.

We expect our players to always try their best.

Players are expected to come to practice and games prepared with all their proper equipment and attire.

Players are expected to be respectful of their coaches, referees, PRL board members, and volunteers.
